No Teeth: A Poetry Blog

What is No Teeth?

No Teeth is a triweekly digital poetry journal run out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is a journal geared towards poetry that is fun, entertaining, and easily accessible to your average person. The idea of No Teeth is to contain poetry that is not "like pulling teeth" to read.

So, you don’t feature experimental work?

We can and will feature experimental work. Most of our work will be of a narrative nature, but if the work is good, and the work is entertaining, who are we to not put it in our humble little journal?

How often will No Teeth appear with new entries?

Three times a week there will be new entries. As it stands, entries will be on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Monday’s will typically feature a writing prompt. Wednesday will feature new poems by a poet. We will have between one and three poems from a poet each week. Friday will be a day reserved for a more critical look at poetics, either featuring criticism on poetics, or a review of a book or a website. You will find interviews on this day as well.

On June 15th, 2010, there will be an anthology of the best poems published between June 2009 to June 2010.

Wait, wait, so if this is supposed to be a blog for the average Joe to enjoy poetry, why is there a critical aspect?

It is this very question that demands critical attention. Just because someone is not well versed in a long academic study of poetry does not mean they have no brain. These critical sections will seek to discuss larger ideas about poetry. Our hope is to give people a place to think, and to interact with poetry so they may build their own ideas of what poetry is or can be. Because, as Percy Bysshe Shelley saidPoets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world.
