Snap Shot Poems

Think of a place that you are familiar with, but not too familiar. Perhaps you stopped in that place once on the road. Maybe you only passed it in your car. Think of the place and try to create a snap shot moment of it by writing a ten-line fiction poem.

Now, think of a place you know well. Perhaps this is the room you choose to sit in to write poems. Maybe this is the bedroom you grew up in. Now write about a single moment from that room that symbolizes its relevance to you or the speaker within the poem. Limit yourself to ten lines.

Which poem is has a stronger sense of place?
