Hyper Senses

Often, poets rely too closely on their sense of sight.

Write a poem that focuses on one specific sense mixed with an unlikely subject. For instance, talk about a meal from the sounds of it being made. Or, show the wedding of a friend just based on the feel things. Taste a day at the morgue. Smell a trip to a photography studio or art museum. Try to let your poems see the world with its eyes closed.

By relying on sense other than sight, we can refresh the descriptions in our writing.
