The 9 to 5 of Poetry

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. This meal helps set the body up for a very productive day. When you awake tomorrow morning, think of a poem you've never written but always wanted to. A poem about your childhood or what every poet names "the Best Poem I've Ever Written."

When you wake up tomorrow, think of ways of achieving this goal throughout the day. Perhaps, walk a new way to work, avoid conversations in the hallway, or merely think of new poetic images when there is a lull in conversation. At lunch jot down your ideas about this particular poem. This will be a giant list.

After dinner, when the house is quiet and all you want to do is watch Bones or perhaps 90210, write your poem. Write everything you've been thinking about through the day. Soon, you should be writing your poem.

Repeat this process one to 7 times a week.
